Our Strategy
Gather
When we gather the goal is simple: To celebrate Jesus, have our lives transformed by his Spirit, and leave better prepared to be the church God’s called us to be. We approach every gathering with great intentionality believing the songs we sing, the messages we preach, and the stories we share should honor God and move us toward our mission. Gathering together weekly is both biblical (Hebrews 10:24-25) and critical to our health and unity as a church.
Connect
As people created in the image of the Triune God, we were never meant to live in isolation, but community. Community ensures that we grow spiritually, experience a sense of belonging to the local church, and bear the image of God rightly in the world (John 13:35, John 17:21, 1 John 4:11-12). Since this is the case, our goal is to get every member of Crosspoint connected into a group for authentic relationships, spiritual growth, and mission.
Engage
Jesus came into this world on mission in pursuit of lost, broken people to restore them back to God (Luke 19:10). He then left that mission to us, calling us to go, baptize, and teach in order to make new followers (Matthew 28:18-20). This means every believer is a full time missionary in those places where they live, work, and play. In light of this, our goal is to equip every member of Crosspoint to engage the Jesus mission through serving, giving, and going so that people far from God can know and follow him.
Multiply
From the beginning, it has been God’s will for his people to be fruitful and multiply (Gen. 1:28), and the same still applies to the Church today (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). It’s only through multiplication that the family of God grows and the Kingdom of God advances. Therefore, we must place an emphasis on multiplying at all levels: disciples, artists, leaders, teams, groups, campuses, and even new churches. Since this is true, we will invest generous amounts of time, money, and effort into disciple making, leadership development, internships, and church planting.
CONVICTIONS
These convictions will shape and define our culture as we strive to accomplish our mission.
We believe our God is forever faithful and with him all things are possible (Matt. 19:26). Therefore, we will be a people of faith, refusing to dream small dreams or pray safe prayers. We will take risks, bank our lives on God’s promises, and be confident in his ability to do abundantly more than we can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20).
We believe our God is a God of grace and second chances. It’s only because of His grace expressed in Jesus that we can know new life in Him and eternal life with Him (Eph. 2:8-9). Therefore, we will be a people of grace, extending freely to others what God extended freely to us. Grace will be the platform from which we share the truth so people far from God can experience the second chance at life only He offers.
We believe our God is a God of community. As his people, we too must share in community both for spiritual growth and to bear his image rightly in the world. Doing so requires more than surface level interaction but true devotion, commitment, and deep love for one another (Acts 2:42-47). Therefore, we will be a people of authentic relationships, knowing they are vital for us and instrumental in making the Gospel more believable to the outside world (John 17:21, 1 John 4:11-12).
We believe our God is a God of compassion. Throughout the Gospels, we see proof of this in Jesus who did for others what they could not do for themselves (Matt. 9:36, Mark 1:41, Luke 7:13). Therefore, we will be a people of compassion, defending and suffering with the hurting, harassed, and helpless. We will feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, invite in the stranger, clothe the naked, visit the prisoner, and care for the sick (Matt. 25:35-36). We will do justice, love kindness, and fight for those who have no voice.
We believe our God is a generous God. He is a giver, not a taker and the ultimate proof of this is found in Jesus (2 Corinthians 8:9). Since we are called to be imitators of God (Ephesians 5:1), we must be givers, not takers so that his generous nature is seen in us. Therefore we will be a people of sacrifice and generosity believing that as we give, lives will be changed—both our lives as givers and the lives of those who receive.
We believe our God is a sending God. He sent his Son to save us and his Spirit to empower us (John 20:21-22; 14:16), and he now sends us into the world to carry out his mission (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8). This means the work of full time ministry is not reserved for a few paid professionals, but for every follower of Jesus. We’ve all been given the responsibility of doing priestly work, acting and speaking on God’s behalf (1 Peter 2:9-10). Therefore, we will live as sent people, going and naming Jesus in dark places where he’s desperately needed.
We believe our God is a God of humility. The evidence is seen most clearly in Jesus who came to our world not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45). He emptied himself and died an obedient death to buy us back to God (Phil. 2:7-8). Therefore, we will be a people of humble service. We will think of ourselves as Christ thought of himself, putting the needs of others before our own (Phil. 2:3-5). We will not seek greatness through self-promotion or exaltation, but will measure greatness by humility and self-sacrifice (Mark 10:43-44, Matt. 23:11-12).
