“Sincere Love” | Suffer Well
(1 Peter 1:22-25) 22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; 24 for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower falls, 25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
Love for one another.
As saved people, we’re to love one another with a sincere love. This is a mark of true spiritual maturity.
The world definition of love is shallow.
Real love cares, engages and takes action.
We are born again.
“To be born again is, as it were, to enter upon a new existence, to have a new mind, a new heart, new views, new principles, new tastes, new affections, new likings, new dislikings, new fears, new joys, new sorrows, new love to things once hated, new hatred to things once loved, new thoughts of god, and ourselves, and the world, and the life to come, and salvation.” – J.C. Ryle
Jesus loved you first.
The world will know us by our love.
Hatred for sin
(1 Peter 2:1-3) So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Hunger for god’s word.
We are too busy.
We’re lazy.
We don’t know what is happening
